On April 1st Syrian authorities denied the UN cease-fire first

The Syrian authorities have rejected the offer Special Envoy of the UN and the League of Arab States (LAS) in Syria, Kofi Annan, the first cease-fire in the process to resolve the crisis in the country.

The representative of Syria's Foreign Minister Jihad Maqdisi explained that the government withdraws its troops and tanks out of the cities and towns, where insecurity persists, as long as it does not establish a normal life.

The statement was made in Damascus a few days after the government agreed to a plan for a ceasefire. Syrian Foreign Ministry said yesterday that the Syrian opposition attempts to overthrow the government failed.
